Marilyn Manson represents the philosophy that all people really care about
are dead celebrities and serial killers/mass murderers. Marilyn Monroe
was the classic dead celebrity, particularly famous because she fucked JFK
and he was famous because he had nice hair and got his brains blown out on
teevee (making him a dead celebrity in his own right). And Charles Manson
was the classic mass murderer (perceived murderer, as he's only accused of
ordering the crimes), and he's the most famous serial killer of all because
he killed celebrity Sharon Tate (minor celebrity, though after her death
the studios releases EVERY movie she had appeared in with new credits
casting HER as the star even if she had a 15-second bit part).

We had barely stopped gossiping about Anna Nicole's apparent suicide, but
now we have the ULTIMATE tragedy to gossip about, a celebrity pro wrestler
who committed mass murder before committing suicide! It's just so perfect
one might suspect the National Enquirer and Nancy Grace of conspiring to
stage the crime themselves to generate a lurid news story to exploit for
our infotainment. It has everything we want: An attractive celebrity who
died a tragic death, a mass murder with plenty of gruesome details and
shocking revelations, and of course drug abuse. The only thing that could
make this any cooler would be if Chris Benoit had fucked George Bush.

=========================================================================
Q: "Do you ever watch wrestling?"

A: "No, I do like the aspect that there's some fake violence and the guys
are wearing makeup and they all walk around in underwear. It's very
homoerotic, but I don't watch it because it's a sport. That, for me,
would be a sin, to watch sports."
-- Marilyn Manson; Interview with Penthouse, 1997.

I'm not sure if "two" counts as "mass".

In another thread, someone called Benoit a serial killer --
I'm dead sure he doesn't qualify as that, unles there are other
killings that haven't been uncovered yet.

He doesn't even count as a spree killer or a beserker.
By the longest stretch of the bow he could be described as a
serial killer because he killed his wife and then his son sone 12
to 24 hours later then committed suicide some time after that.

No, not even. I'm pretty sure the official "cooling off period"
is longer than 24 hours, and the murders are to be otherwise
unrelated.

does anybody else have an awful feeling that an innocent man sits in
jail while the real UNABOMer
is leading a contented life on the loose?

The Unabomber is still my hero, but he is definitely Ted Kaczynski. If
he was framed, it was the most sophisticated frame in history, and the
general incompetence of the government means that there would be no way
they could pull off such a complex conspiracy.

BTW, I am considering casting a write-in vote for the Unabomber in next
year's presidential election. There really isn't anyone else who is
qualified, and he sure beats the giant douches and turd sandwiches the
major parties are offering us.

Finally, are Ted's crimes worse than President Bush's? I remember that
Dr. David Gerlernter had to have his hand amputated after Ted's bomb
shredded it, but then I also remember seeing news reports depicting so
many Iraqi children and adults with arms and legs blown off by the bombs
Bush ordered dropped on them. Also, I know someone who has personally
infected hundreds or thousands people with the HIV virus, and the FBI
hasn't devoted even one nanosecond to investigating that henious crime.
Perhaps Ted's mistake was to use nails instead of infected hypodermic
needles as shrapnel, because the latter technique seems to be legal.

"They want to blame Manson for being the Father of their children.
The President of the United States is supposedly the Father of us
all, he's supposedly the leader. Well, you can dig me for being
the leader of the Family and then give Nixon immunity?!? Y'know,
he killed a lot more people than Charlie did.......if Charlie was
capable of doing something like that, wouldn't he be better in the
White House than Nixon? Nixon wasn't capable of doing nothing but
running faces and getting elected like he was doing something.
The office is still there, you just keep changing faces with the
same old monkey as if you didn't know we were all living in a zoo!"

i still think mcmahon killed them, because it was the only way
that he could return from the dead... think about it...

short of a real tragedy like this actually occurring, vince
mcmahon would have no longer existed (in fiction).

that's just what my gut instinct tells me...

Not quite. There is a George W. Bush connection in the case of Anna Nicole's
death, because she used to smoke crack with him and he introduced her to some
fat freak named Rush who hooked her up with the Oxy's and Xanax bars she OD'd
on. But for all of GWB's crimes, this is one he didn't commit.
